New York City has three airports: John F. Kennedy International (JFK), Newark Liberty International (EWR) and LaGuardia (LGA). Direct flights from Israel arrive at JFK and Newark. If you are flying via a domestic connection, you might arrive at LaGuardia.

John F. Kennedy International (JFK): JFK is the largest and busiest airport in New York, so prepare for long waiting times when you arrive. The airport which is located 19 km from the center of Manhattan has six terminals. Delta Air Lines flights from Tel Aviv to New York JFK Airport arrive and depart from Terminals 2 and 4. EL AL flights are being handled at Terminal 4. All terminals are connected with AirTrain service to the city subway system. You can buy a Metrocard, deposit money and use it for the rest of your trip. A ride to Manhattan costs $7.75, and the duration is 50-75 minutes, depends on your destination.

Newark Liberty International (EWR): Flights from Tel Aviv to Newark are being serviced at Terminal B for both EL AL and United Airlines. The airport’s three terminals are connected with AirTrain system. With this service, you can connect to NJ Transit and arrive in Midtown Manhattan within 30 minutes. It costs $12.5 for both the AirTrain and the train services. You can take the bus if you want to save money, but it takes longer - up to two hours, depending on traffic.

LaGuardia (LGA): Cheap flights to New York via stopovers might arrive at LaGuardia, usually via another North-American destination. It’s the closest airport to the city, less than 13 km to the east. There are plenty of bus options, NYC subway, airporter bus, and it takes 20-40 minutes to reach the city center.
