Overnight stay at pet friendly inn. This municipality of the U.S. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico has everything to give the City of San Juan a run for its money if only more interest were paid to its rural charm. The University of Puerto Rico has a campus nearby, but the town looks poor and unkept. The best places are on its coastal region with uncommonly great places which are pet friendly and beachfront inns that run on bare essentials. Great for lone travelers looking to meditate, start over or focus on family getaways with adventure flair to get off the beaten path and set your own rhythm to your Caribbean getaway. Remember, I did not say it's luxury, I did say- rustic. Bring your four legged friends too. Unlike many locations near San Juan, this municipality values the complete definition of what "family" means to animal lovers.
Educational and cool. $10 entry fee, open wed-sun certain months of the year so check their website before making the trek. Really cool to see the "GoldenEye film set" in person!!! Totally perfect for this astronomy geek girl.
Most magnificent place I have ever seen. Enormous. The cat walk is 1/4 of a mile at an incline.
One of the students gave us a tour in English for just the two of us. It's a good walk up the hill to reach the observatory, wear comfortable shoes or get a lift at the gate. It was raining on the day we went but there was a welcome overhang outside to stand under while we looked at the structure. Very impressive and an enjoyable day off the beach.
