It takes a bit of doing to get to Mammoth Lakes, but the effort is well worth it. The town is set in a valley that's surrounded by mountains making it feel like an alpine village. The area has interesting geological features and home to many hot springs, the best of which is Whitmore Hot Spring. This open air spring looks out over the valley and to the mountains beyond - it's strikingly beautiful.

This place is beyond one of my most favorite towns cities or villages in the entire world. When I come here everything resets. I am very relaxed, take everything in stride and just roll with it. Having lived here as a child for a couple of years kinda nutured the specialness that Mammoth is to me. So much to do here that is super special and fun: Skiing/Snowboarding on Mammoth Mountain Hiking Cycling Fishing Hot Springs Camping Festivals galore Devil's Postpile Rainbow Falls John Muir Trail runs right past it Twin Lakes McCloud Lake Horseshoe Lake Lake Mary Convict Lake June Lake Mono Lake Seriously the lakes just go on and on... Day trip to Yosemite Day trip to Bodie Ghost Town This list just never wants to end. Especially with so many good, decent, and occasionally outstanding restaurants. Trust me they have some great grub here and I will admit some terrible grub to. Regardless, this place is unqiue in a great way and everyone that I know loves to spend time here. So if you want an outstanding place to go recharge the batteries while having tons of outdoor fun and a bit o grubbage, this is an excellent place to go to...
