Located just a 1-minute walk from Barcelona Cathedral, Itaca Hostel is set on a quiet street in the heart of the city, surrounded by cafés, bars, and restaurants.

Good!
Hostel well located, clean whether in terms of the rooms or the common areas. Approx €45 per night (without breakfast), well located, right in the Gothic Quarter.

No privacy Unsafe bads.
This was by far the worst accommodation we experienced during our Europe trip.
We are an older couple and expected at least a basic level of comfort and safety. Unfortunately, that was not the case at all.
The 8-bed mixed dorm had no privacy curtains whatsoever, which is very uncomfortable in a shared space like this. The bed itself was a narrow metal bunk, and the upper bunk did not have a proper safety rail, making it feel unsafe to sleep.
We raised these concerns with the staff and asked to move to a bed with at least minimal privacy, but there was little understanding or willingness to help.
What is most surprising is that such conditions are considered acceptable. Basic privacy and safety should be standard, especially in a mixed dorm.
We had already paid for a full week, and the rest of our stay felt uncomfortable and stressful.
I would not recommend this place unless significant improvements are made.

A Wonderful Stay at Itaca Hostel
The hostel is perfectly situated in the heart of the city, making it incredibly convenient to explore local attractions, restaurants, and shops. Everything is just a short walk away, which made my stay even more enjoyable.The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The beds were cozy. It’s a fantastic option for budget travelers without compromising on comfort.Cleanliness is clearly a priority at Itaca. The bathrooms and common areas are regularly cleaned, and I felt very comfortable using them. Despite being in a lively area, the noise level in the hostel was surprisingly low. I was able to get a good night’s sleep without disturbances. The staff at Itaca Hostel are incredibly friendly and The amenities offered are top-notch. From free Wi-Fi to a well-equipped kitchen and cozy lounge areas, everything you need for a comfortable stay is available. The hostel also organizes fun activities, which adds to the overall experience.

Nice place in the heart of Barcelona
Nice hostel, with friendly people! The hostel was clean and comfortable, and I could contact the 24/7 reception for any questions. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a hostel in the heart of Barcelona.

Good loc but needs better hosts
Itaca Hostel is very near Barcelona Cathedral. Great location. The rooms are clean, including the common rooms such as kitchen. The bed is comfortable. They also offer free tea and coffee
Only disadvantage is you have to carry your luggage 2 floors up as there is no elevator.
The hosts of Itaca Hostel are accommodating however, they are not familiar with the city and insider tips. They are new people to Barcelona which does not help much in planning on what to do in the city. But I like Claus although he is new.
Also note that when you leave your luggage beyond 2pm on day of checkout, there is a charge. If you will use the common area beyond checkout period, there is also a charge. This is not common for me as I have stayed in a lot of hostels before already.
