For a hostel was a great place. Clean, good breakfast, staff is very friendly and accomodating.

Mold

the carpet in our room was very wet the first night, and damp the following nights. and we could see mold in the bathroom. we told the recption - who said that there frequently have been leaks in our room over a long period, and that they never got it checked for mold, but the reception still said there was no mold (despite there being frequent leaks in our room, over a long period of time??), and they did not wanna help us or move us to a diffrent room or give us a refund "because we were only staying for 2 more nights"?
just after 3 nights staying there, we both started getting many mold symptoms (coughing, nosebleeds and sneezing and runny nose) that got worse when staying in the room during the nights....

Incredible customer service.

I must preface that I did not stay, and for this reason, I cannot give more than 4/5, but I leave this review because I was supposed to spend 3 days at the property with 2 other people, and the very kind customer service managed to move my reservation forward by one day (with a corresponding price change) despite it being a particularly busy period.
I was unable to stay due to force majeure, but the incredible availability and kindness of the customer service staff impressed me.

Refused to correct booking error despite availability and took all my money.

I booked this place via hotels.com and the booking confirmation came through as a female only dorm. I am unsure if this was a bug on the site or an error on my part, but I immediately contacted to rectify the error.
Hotels.com contacted the property on my behalf and I was told that the property refused to honour the booking and move me to a male dorm. This happened within minutes of the mistake.
If the information was correct from hotels.com and the refusal came from the property itself, this shows an incredible degree of greed. I lost the money I paid for this hostel.
If the hostel didn't instruct hotels.com to do this, they need to have a serious look at the conduct of their suppliers.

I searched and booked on Booking.com by explicitly setting the filters for 2 adults and 1 pet. The system displayed a pet-friendly room (the room photos even featured a small dog), which I paid for online. However, the confirmation email only listed the 2 adults, and upon arrival, the property demanded an additional €10 for the dog. It is not about the amount of money, but the complete lack of transparency, which I consider highly unfair.
Furthermore, the extractor fan in the bathroom was faulty and kept buzzing loudly all night inside the room, which seriously disturbed our rest.
On a positive note, the reception staff were helpful and allowed us to check in earlier. The rooms themselves are actually quite okay for hostel standards, featuring a nice retro style. However, due to the hidden charges and the lack of maintenance, it was not a pleasant experience.
