San Francisco Arrivals Information

Three-quarters of all SFO arrivals are on time, so chances are good that you won't have any unexpected SFO flight delays. For the convenience of your schedule, you can check the flight statuses online here or at the airport. When checking your flight status online, you have a couple of options. You can either browse all the flights that are scheduled to arrive soon or search for a specific flight number. Should you notice that your flight is delayed, it is still a good idea to make sure you arrive at the airport on time, ahead of the scheduled departure.

Pick up and drop off at San Francisco airport

You'll be pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to meet passengers coming in on SFO arrivals. There are designated meeting points in Terminals 1, 2, and 3 and the International Terminal. In Terminals 1 and 2, these points are located near the boarding area exits and provide easy visibility of the SFO flight status boards. If you're meeting travelers who are arriving at Terminal 3, the signed meeting point is located on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level. Again, those waiting for passengers can easily view the flight status for SFO arrivals. International passengers can be met at the signed areas near U.S. Customs and Immigration. All SFO flight status boards are viewable here, too, including Delta flight information.

It's equally simple to pick up passengers from the airport's Cell Phone Waiting lot. From here, you can stay updated about SFO flight status, including American Airlines flight information, using your cell phone.

If you're being dropped off at SFO, there are also many convenient options. SFO's Kiss & Fly drop off area is located at the airport's Rental Car Center. Travelers can hop on a quick AirTrain Blue Line car to get to their respective terminals. This option is especially convenient if you're traveling domestically. You can often check in with your airline and drop off your baggage at Kiss & Fly. This will enable you to ride the AirTrain without having to cart your luggage around. The person who is dropping you off can also easily park in the International Terminal's parking garage and escort you into the terminal. Parking payment kiosks are located inside the terminal for quick and easy exits.

How to get to and from San Francisco airport

SFO is located just off one of California's major north-south freeways, Highway 101. As a result, making it to the airport on time for SFO departures is convenient from most California locations. Travelers coming from East Bay locations will find that San Mateo Bridge/Highway 92 is the nearest bay crossing to the airport. Once you're past the bay, stay on Highway 92 for a quick 2 miles and then head north on 101 for 7 miles. If you're coming directly from San Francisco, it's a straight shot south on the 101. Similarly, if you're coming from Palo Alto, Santa Clara, and San Jose, just zip up north on the 101 to make your SFO departure.

The region's Bay Area Rapid Transit, or BART, system offers direct service to and from San Francisco International Airport. SFO's BART station is located in the International Terminal for easy access for all travelers. Most BART stations around the Bay Area also offer affordable rates on airport long-term parking.

Other public transportation options include the CalTrain Commuter Rail service and local SamTrans buses. You can access the CalTrain by hopping on a BART train and transferring in San Bruno or Millbrae. SamTrans buses provide around-the-clock SFO service with stops at Terminals 2 and 3 and the International Terminal.

Many hotels along the 101 and near the airport also offer park-and-ride and courtesy shuttles to the airport. If you're feeling energetic, you can even bike to the airport using the marked paths that are located on McDonnell Road. The airport provides bicycle assembly stations and parking on site.
