Flights from Tel Aviv to Amman arrive at Queen Alia International Airport AMM, or simply Amman Airport, also called QAIA. The airport is located 30 km south of the capital city of Jordan. Most Israelis don’t fly on this route to visit Amman, but to connect to other destinations around the globe for a lower price. The airport has one Terminal with a Duty-Free Area, several restaurants and cafes, children's play area and free Wifi.
The access to the departures gates is located on the third floor, where you can also find retail stores, a pharmacy, a Duty-Free area, and restaurants. Friendly staff will help you to locate the gate for your connecting flight.
If you do not continue to another destination and enter Jordan, you will find on this floor the passport control desks. Take the Airport Express Bus to the city; it departs every 30 minutes between 6:00-18:00 and every 60 minutes between 18:00-00:00. Travel time to Tabarbour bus station in Amman takes 45-60 minutes. Taxis operate 24 hours a day. Prices to the city center should cost around JOD20 (₪100).
Things you should know
Israelis on flights from Tel Aviv to Amman must enter Jordan with a valid passport for the next six months at least. When you fly from Tel Aviv to Amman and continue to your final destination within the next few hours, and do not leave the airport, you don’t need to obtain a visa. If you plan to enter Jordan, you need a visa which can be obtained upon arrival. It cost 40 JOD, approximately ₪200. This fee is waived if you stay in the country for three days or longer.
