Overnight stay during a bike tour
It is a family-run inn and hotel where you really feel comfortable. The restaurant is recommended, in this house just everything fits.

Good hotel on the lake with fair prices. Unfortunately the bathroom is small
The double room for single use is available for €85. In the middle of the season and in a prime location by the lake, that's a pretty fair price. The hotel is located on the busy main road, but offers plenty of parking spaces in the courtyard. Entry shouldn't be a problem for European cars. There is also a private garage for bikes (lockable) with six power sockets. That's something we like, of course. There is no real reception. The boss, or whoever is there, runs the bar. That's good too. The rooms are in the annex and not above the restaurant. The whole thing is connected by a common area (lounge). There is also a small library, board games, a refrigerator for drinks (very limited. Price list is available) and an internet hotspot. But don't worry, the WiFi worked quite well in the room too. Outside there is a small playground, seating and a table tennis table. Rackets are available. Everything looks very good and well-maintained.
The floor in the annex is made of marble. Everything is very clean. We have a new elevator (built in 2000, but not in service between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m., for whatever reason), and a smoking balcony on the first floor. I found the manager's special advice not to smoke in the room a bit inappropriate. Anyone with a bit of travel experience should know that it is forbidden. But since a short one was issued in the evening, we'll ignore that.
The room (3 stars superior. Although I'm not sure what the superior stands for) is quite spacious. There is a large seating area and a three-part closet. There is a safe in the room and a minibar (empty). Air conditioning would have been too good to be true. Everything is quite clean, but the room doesn't pass the famous finger test (but I did try to do that). The floor is laminate, the rest is normal furniture. Two carpets. The bed is OK. We have two small windows. The black-out curtains are not great. The whole thing is locked with a key that also locks the main entrance, side entrance and bike garage. The soundproofing from the street is better than expected. I'm not sure about the rooms. Either I was the only one on the second floor, or you really can't hear anything from the other rooms (the double doors in each room certainly help). There is of course a TV with lots of channels. A proper guest folder (you don't see that often anymore) rounds it all off. In combination with the lounge and the lovingly designed outdoor area, this is already a great price-performance ratio.
Is there a catch?
But of course there is a catch. The bathroom is about the size of a single bed. And I'm not talking about the shower, but the entire bathroom. How two people are supposed to fit their toiletries in there is not quite clear to me. The shower heats up quickly and is also quite stable. The shower head is one of the most calcified that I can remember. There is a shelf, but no extractor fan. At least the shower is sealed and there is a hairdryer. But the whole thing is not super(ior) for me.
Finally, breakfast. The time is rather tight, from 8 to 10. The buffet offers a bit of everything, but the selection is not that big in some cases. Three types of sausage, only rolls or bread, a coffee machine (four types). That's standard. The selection of spreadable sausage and spreadable cheese is really big (and no vegan). If you want boiled eggs, you have to make them yourself. Fried eggs or scrambled eggs are freshly prepared (ask) and are very tasty. The tables are assigned to the rooms (no exceptions). There are no special features.
Conclusion: Yes, I had expected that not everything would be vain bliss for the fair room price. The rooms and hotel facilities are 5 points (for the outdoor area and the lounge even an extra 0.5 points, so 5.5). Unfortunately, the bathroom is not that great (3.0), and the breakfast is of a good standard (4.0). All in all, a solid 4 points. A good starting point for my tours. Small special feature. No credit cards are accepted.

Herzlichen Dank für dieses wirklich ausführliche Feedback; es freut uns sehr, dass Sie sich bei uns wohlgefühlt haben.
Jedoch möchte ich doch einige Punkte klarstellen: bei uns können die Gäste in Bar, mit Bankomat- oder Kreditkarten bezahlen. Unsere Frühstückszeiten sind von 07.30 Uhr bis 10.00 Uhr (danke noch für den Hinweis, dies wurde bereits in der Gästemappe geändert) und wir haben beim Frühstücksbuffet immer Semmeln und auch einiges an Korngebäck und Schwarzbrot.
Ja es stimmt, dass drei unserer Zimmer mit kleineren Bädern ausgestattet sind. Diese Zimmer werden vorrangig als Doppelzimmer zur Einzelnutzung vergeben.
Nun ja, wir sind ein 3 Sterne superior Betrieb und erfüllen somit auch nicht alle Ansprüche, die ein 4 oder 5 Sterne Betrieb hat. Dazu ist ja auch der Zimmerpreis dementsprechend angepasst. Das Superior steht für Leistungen, die mehr als ein 3 Sterne Betrieb erfüllt - dies wären eben: Abschließbarer Fahrradunterstand mit Steckdosen, Verdunkelungsvorhänge und zusätzliche Fensterbalken, Schallschutztüren in den Zimmern, WIFI - am ganzen Areal und in den Zimmern, wir haben ausgezeichnete Matratzn und Polsterauswahl.......
Trotzdem gibt es auch bei uns immer wieder Nachholbedarf und wir sind für konstruktive Kritik sehr dankbar und nehmen es gerne an. Danke und LG Astrid Schmidt

Help in our hour of need
We had a need to find a place to stay when our house in Austria was unusable and the Family Schmidt came to our rescue.
We assume that the hotel wasn't open as it was between seasons, but we were allowed to use a large room in the main house.
Comfortable beds, immaculately clean, incredible breakfast. When we returned from breakfast, our room had already been cleaned.
Very highly recommended

Great stay and attention to detail
On our way from Salzburg to Udine, my wife, 3 month old baby and myself lodged at Gastof Postwirt for one night. We were welcomed and shown to our room with a wonderful surprise of a baby bed! The owner helped me lift the baby stroller up a few steps to our room gave us the keys to the room and front door and wished us a good night. They also have a top rated restaurant there however we decided to eat another place at a 6 minute walk.
Great place! would stay there again especially in the summer due to it's closeness to the lake.

My favourite
I have been coming to this hotel/restaurant for over 40 years as man and boy.
Put simply, it encapsulates everything that is wonderful about the Austrian way of life. The welcome that you will receive from Franz will make you feel like one of their family. The food is wonderfully cooked, the ingredients are sourced locally and is always cooked to perfection by the kitchen staff.
It’s always the first place we visit for dinner when we are in the area and we are always sad to leave
