My favorite Danish hotel!

LOVED this charming hotel. The gardens are sublime and lots of nice little touches abound - we found the rooms attractive and cozy.
Bear in mind, some of the rooms have a step up to the bed, so that if you are someone that gets up in the middle of the night for the bathroom, best to be forewarned that there is that sneaky step.
Like many danish establshments, food is taken very seriously. Dinner is quite long and a production. That said? The course sizes seemed just right - you were not loaded up with food and we thought both dinner AND breakfast were perfectly executed with beautiful local ingredients (we happened to be walking through the dining room mid afternoon and were treated to a presentation from the chefs as to what had just come in from the garden) However, I would not want to eat in the dining room for more than one night -- in our case, we went into town for our other night. I personally would appreciate either a morning buffet, or a bit of discussion about the breakfast because I unnecessarily wasted some of it; but it was beautifully presented and delicious.
Nice gym and sauna (some of us also walked down to the ocean and took a dip in conjunction with the sauna) outdoor hot tub temperature was not all that hot, but the sauna was lovely. And all public spots such as gym, sauna, terrific shower and exercise area were spotlessly clean.

Beware certain rooms

The grounds are spectacular and it seems most of the room are nice
. BUT do not book into 9 or 10. Zero privacy, doors open to a Public space where people drink and smoke up to 10 pm. Cannot open windows except for a tiny high one that opens onto a street and sidewalk so you are at shin level of people walking by. Awful. These should not be booked to guests.

Lunch

Unfortunately, my wife and I did not have the best experience during a lunch visit.
Arrived at the place at 12:00 and was shown to our two men's table. It should be said that all guests subsequently themselves had to choose table, but this option was not given to us.
When we arrived in the lunch lounge there was loud pop/rock music from the kitchen, and it generally did not seem that the waiters and chefs had completely discovered that the clock had turned 12. However, the switch to classical music took about 5 minutes.
When we sat down at the table the waiter came with the menu tab which we looked at and immediately we discovered that it was the old menu that still appeared and not the new one. We asked the waiter if it was a mistake and she regretted the mistake.
We both ordered the lunch menu and while we waited we discovered a used fabric napkin under our table, which the waiter obviously regretted that they had not been removed from a previous serving.
The food we got was really good but the whole experience with a restaurant that didn't feel ready, as well as a very concise server (on the brink of arrogance) unfortunately makes the whole experience was a big disappointment.
Furthermore, I could not help noting that the table next to us lacked a fork for their caviar as they themselves were up and demand from the waiter, they had only received a knife for caviar and blinis.
The whole experience and the “faults” are something that in my view should not occur at this level. It simply lacked the warmth, welcoming and professionalism that is present in other comparable restaurants.
Had the mistakes and serving experience been better we would have landed on 4 out of 5, but now we are unfortunately landing on 2 out of 5.

5 star review for a 5 star hotel

A 5 star review for a 5 star hotel. An mazing visit to this old country side hotel and restaurant can only be recommended. We stayed for night with dinner and were to an amazing experience. The coffee and the with home made patisserie upon arrival was delicious, the evening dinner should rate a Michelin star and the service was impeccable. Afterwards we enjoyed soaking in the outside spa.
We stayed in a very nice double room on what I would describe as a small resort. The room had a fire place which warmed us after the spa. Very romantic
I highly recommend Falsled Kro

A lovely stay in quiet settings with great food.

A round birthday was to be celebrated with overnight stay and dinner at Falsled Kro.
We were welcomed with open arms by the staff who accompanied us to the room in the external building on the opposite side of the road.
Room No. 26 on the 1st floor was large with living room, bedroom and bathroom.
The room has everything you need and if you lack anything you can order delivery to the room.
The afternoon caffeine was consumed in the bar with open fire in the fireplace. Home baked cakes and cakes in large selection were available.
The cakes were beautifully crafted and tasted great.
Before lunch we went for a beautiful walk to the local harbour and along the water, it was very experience-rich.
For dinner we had ordered a 4-course menu, but with appetizers and snacks it ended around 8-9 servings.
There was plenty of food, beautifully served and with very delicious taste on all homemade dishes.
The next morning we ate the most delicious breakfast, again with homemade dishes and homemade juices with fruits from the garden.
All in all, a fantastic experience on all fronts.
We will definitely come back and definitely recommend Falsled Kro.
