I love staying here!

I love staying here! The location, the staff, the food, everything is superb!
We stay in the Purbeck suite overlooking the gardens and river and is quite simply the best bath you will ever have!
The food is sensational!!! Being celiac is difficult, but here I was so well looked after. I recommend the duck starter, the venison main and the cheesecake.
I have stayed here a few times and what absolutely makes this stay is, Ajay! We did the wine pairing and this guy is amazing. Incredibly attentive and his knowledge really puts you at ease. I can’t wait to get back there. See you in the spring!

Fantastic just! The location, the food, the kaners, the friendliness and the surrounding buildings and facilities. Very nice on the water

Nothing short of remarkable!

My wife & I stayed in the Heron Suite for our anniversary - it was nothing short of remarkable!
From the minute we arrived the staff were super attentive & very friendly
Our suite, directly fronting the river, was amazing.
We ate in the garden room restaurant where the food was delicious and again the waiters were a credit to the hotel.
We have stayed in some great hotels but I can honestly say this was up there as our favourite, we will 100% be back
Thank you

Beautiful venue, superb food and service

Just outstanding!
Highly recommend a visit.
Took my wife for dinner on her birthday on 19th August 2026.
From the moment we arrived to the end of the evening, everything was faultless.
This hotel was a former monastery and dates back to 890 AD.
The ambience, the level of service from the receptionist to the waiters was to say the least fantastic. The food was the best we have had in many many years.
It is equal to our favourite restaurant St Helena's in Bedfordshire which we have been going to for 45 years. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of the staff. A special thank you to Ajay for his smile, sense of humour, attention to detail and outstanding level of service.
We could not have asked for anything more.
Thank you to The Priory for an unforgettable evening.

Extremely disappointing

Just experienced an extremely disappointing lunch at The Priory in Wareham. As local residents who dine out frequently we were left feeling as if we simply didn't matter. Food was excellent (the chef knows what he's doing) but service in the restaurant and at Reception was appalling. At Reception I was told twice to go speak to the Restaurant team directly myself (once to get 'permission' to eat on the terrace which on the booking call we were assured wasn't an issue, and twice to go request the bill myself). The restaurant and manager had different versions as to why we couldn't eat on the terrace - from 'you're not hotel residents' to 'wasps' to 'weather', despite two other tables being served outside. Getting our drinks took time and our order (diet coke) was forgotten twice. Plates and drinks took time to clear from the table after we stacked them ourselves to make room. Sadly not the special experience we anticipated. Somewhat reluctant to start using the restaurant more come the off season which we had planned.
