Terminal Information - Departing

All flights except low-cost airlines depart from Ben Gurion Airport Terminal 3. When you fly from Tel Aviv to Cancun, it’s recommended to arrive at least three hours before departure to allow sufficient time for security checks.

You can pass the time until your flight at the Duty-Free stores, where you can buy clothing items, shoes, domestic and international beers, wines and liquors, electronics and gadgets. You don’t need to carry anything with you; you can use the Duty-Free storing service and pick it up when you return to Israel. Enjoy a tasty meal at one of the restaurants or cafes, and stay connected during the whole stay at Ben Gurion Airport with the free Wi-Fi service.

There are two Dan Lounges at Terminal 3. If you have a premium credit card, you can a discount or even free entrance. Here you can enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks, including beers and wines. If you are a member of the MATMID club with a premium status, check the King David Lounge.

Terminal Information - Arriving

No matter from which airport you are connecting, all flights from Tel Aviv to Cancun arrive at Cancún International Airport (CUN), Mexico's second busiest airport. The airport has four terminals; most European airlines and all the airlines from the US and Canada are handled in Terminal 3.

Note that there is a new Mexican law that limits the amount of foreign currency a business can accept each month. It means that you will probably need to have Mexican pesos at some point, and have only Dollars or Euros won’t be enough.

After you passed immigration and customs, you can go to the transportation section to arrange a transfer to your hotel. There is no taxi line outside the airport, and the transportation to your hotel needs to be pre-arranged. The airport management warns that most transport services offered online are illegal.

Israeli citizens flying from Tel Aviv to Cancun don’t need to apply for a visa in advance. You will get a tourist visa upon your arrival for 90 days. Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the date of your arrival, and you need to have a flight ticket out of Mexico to prove that you have no intentions to stay for a longer period in the country.
