Flights from Tel Aviv to Nairobi via stopovers arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO). The airport is located 15 km southeast of Nairobi's central business district.
The local buses from the airport to the city belong to private companies and usually seat 20-35 passengers, standing passengers are not allowed by law. Bus 34 runs from the airport to The Ambassador Hotel in downtown Nairobi for a very inexpensive price. You can take a taxi just outside the arrival hall. Licensed taxis are metered, so the final price depends on your exact destination, but expect to pay around 1,500 KES (around ₪51).
If you are arriving during rush hours, meaning 7:00-9:00 and 16:30-18:30, you can expect a very long journey into town by its jammed traffic.
Things you should know
Israeli citizens planning to book flights from Tel Aviv to Nairobi need to obtain a visa to Kenya. You can arrange it before your trip at the embassy in Israel or the airport in Kenya. There is a designated website where you fill a form and attach a scan of your passport. Here you can also pay the $50 visa issuance fee. After a few days, you will get the visa by email. Your passport needs to be valid for at least six more months after arriving in Kenya and have two blank pages.
