Terminal Information - Departing

Direct flights from Tel Aviv to Sofia operated by Bulgaria Air and EL AL depart from Ben Gurion Airport Terminal 3. Wizz Air departs from Terminal 1. The train station is at Terminal 3, level -1. If you leave from Terminal 1, you can take the free shuttle bus. Terminal 1 re-opened in June 2017 and it serves now all low-cost flights departing from Tel Aviv.

In both terminals, you will find Duty-Free stores, several cafes and restaurants, and the iconic $200 tax-free offers on electronics. You can browse online thanks to the free Wi-Fi provided in all areas of the terminal and some of the gates.

Terminal 3 has three lounges. If you have a premium credit card, you can check the Dan Lounges for free or for a discount. EL AL members of Matmid Club with an Elite status can relax at the King David Lounge.

Terminal Information - Arriving

Flights from Tel Aviv to Sofia arrive at Sofia Airport (SOF), located 10 km east of the city center. The airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 for low-cost airlines such as Wizz Air, and Terminal 2 for traditional airlines such as Bulgaria Air and EL AL.

To reach the city take Sofia Metro Line 1. The journey time from Sofia Airport to the city center is approximately 18 minutes. Change to Line 2 at Serdika Metro Station, if you need to get to the central bus and railway Stations. A single fare is 1.60 Lev (₪3.25). The metro station is located in the eastern part of Terminal 2. If you arrive at Terminal 1, use the free shuttle between to two terminals.

Israeli nationals don’t need a visa to Bulgaria. Before booking your flights from Tel Aviv to Sofia, make sure that your passport is valid for at least 90 days after your expected departure from the country.
