We would like to inform you that Hokkaido and Otaru City will levy an accommodation tax starting April 1, 2026 (Wed.). Please pay at the front desk upon check-in. Accommodation tax (per person, per night): Accommodation charges under 20,000JPY: 300 JPY (100 JPY in Hokkaido / 200 JPY in Otaru City) 20,000 JPY to under 50,000 JPY: 400 JPY (200 JPY in Hokkaido / 200 JPY in Otaru City) 50,000 JPY and above: 700 JPY (500 JPY in Hokkaido / 200 JPY in Otaru City) Hokkaido will begin levying an accommodation tax from April 1, 2026. The tax is calculated per person per night based on the accommodation cost, with the following rates:Less than 20,000 JPY → 100 JPY; 20,000 JPY to less than 50,000 JPY → 200 JPY; 50,000 JPY or more → 500 JPY. In addition, individual cities and municipalities may impose their own local accommodation tax, ranging from 100 to 2,000 JPY per person per night, on top of the Hokkaido tax.The accommodation cost includes the room fee and service fee, but excludes food and beverage expenses as well as consumption tax. Please note that some room rates do not include the accommodation tax; in such cases, the tax must be paid separately at the front desk.
