Two airlines operate direct flights from Tel Aviv to Budapest: EL AL flights are operated by its low-cost branch UP until August 2018, and Wizz Air. Seasonal and charter flights are sometimes available with Arkia and Israir.

Terminal Information - Departing

Ben Gurion Airport TLV: Tel Aviv Budapest flights operated by EL AL/UP and Wizz Air depart from Terminal 1. This terminal serves mostly low-cost flights, and it has limited services and a smaller Duty-Free. If you arrive by train, take the free shuttle bus from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1. The shuttle departs every 15-20 minutes, and it takes approximately 10 minutes to get there.

You are requested to arrive at the airport three hours before your departing time to allow sufficient time for security check. The Duty-Free area has several fashion stores and gift shops, and you can save money on electronics with great $200 deals. You can store the goods that you buy for no extra fee, and it will wait for you until you return to Israel.

Free Wifi is available in all areas of the terminal, including the food court restaurants and cafes. Premium credit cards members are entitled to discounted or free entrance to Dan Lounge if your flight departs from Terminal 3.

Terminal Information - Arriving

Flights from Tel Aviv to Budapest arrive at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International BUD. This is the biggest airport in Hungary, located 16 km to the south of Budapest. The airport has two active terminals: 2A and 2B. Terminal 1 is out of service. Terminal 2A serves flights within the Schengen zone, and Terminal 2B serves the rest of the world, including flights from Tel Aviv to Budapest.

Bus 200E connects the airport and the Kőbánya-Kispest metro terminal via the Ferihegy train station. Tickets cost 350 HUF (around ₪4.80), and they are available at the airport at its customer service points, from the post office, and from ticket machines at the bus stop. If you buy it directly from the bus driver, the fare is 450 HUF (₪6.20).

Bus 100E is a new, convenient and direct service to the city center. You’ll have to purchase a special ticket for 900 HUF (₪12.40), season tickets are not valid for this service. There are several bus lines either to the city or connecting to the Metro system. Night buses are also available. Alternatively, you can take a taxi. All taxis are metered, and a ride to the city center should cost around 6500 HUF (₪89) depending on traffic conditions.

Things you should know

With an Israeli passport, you don’t need a visa to enter Hungary when arriving on flights from Tel Aviv to Budapest. However, you need to make sure that your passport is valid for at least 90 days after your departure from Budapest. If you have an EU passport, you may go to the EU citizens line.
