Terminal Information - Departing

Ben Gurion Airport has two passenger terminals: Terminal 3 is the main one, and Terminal 1 for domestic and low-cost flights. Flights to Cairo as the final destination will most likely depart from Terminal 3. You should arrive at least three hours before departure to allow sufficient time for security checks. At the terminal, you will find several restaurants, cafes, fashion stores and automated machines. The Duty-Free stores have bargain offers on electronics sold for $200 tax-free deals. Terminal Information - Arriving

Since there are no direct flights from Tel Aviv to Cairo, you need to check with the airline which carries you to your final destination in which terminal you are landing. Generally, Aegean Airlines and Turkish Airlines are operating from Terminal 3 and Royal Jordanian from Terminal 1. Cairo Airport shuttle bus will take you to downtown Cairo for 35 LE, less than ₪7. If you want to take a taxi, note that the old black and white taxis usually do not have a meter and prices are negotiated before traveling. The new City Cabs are yellow, they have meters, and most of these are air-conditioned. A city limousine will take you to the center of Cairo for 80-155 LE (₪16-31), depending on the car category. There are several bus lines from Terminal 1.

Things you should know

Israeli citizens traveling by flights from Tel Aviv to Cairo must obtain a visa before entering Egypt. Your passport must be valid for at least six months on the day you apply for the visa. You will need four passport photos and four application forms. You can apply at the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv for a fee of around ₪100. The approval takes around 14 days, so don’t wait for the last moment. Tourist visas are usually given for 90 days.
