Terminal Information - Departing
Most flights from Tel Aviv to Vancouver depart from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport TLV - נתב”ג - נמל התעופה בן גוריון Terminal 3. However, if the first leg of your trip is operated by a low-cost airline such as easyJet or Ryanair, it may depart from Terminal 1. Both terminals have Duty-Free stores, cafes, and restaurants. The train station is located outside Terminal 3; for departures from Terminal 1 take the free shuttle bus connecting the two terminals.
Make an effort and try to arrive at least three hours before your departure time to allow enough time for security checks. Free Wifi service is offered in most areas of the terminal for the whole duration of your stay. Upgrade your airport experience and relax at one of the two Dan Lounges. Several credit card companies allow you free entrance or at least a massive discount. At the lounge, you can enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks, including beers and wines. Elite members of EL AL Matmid Club can visit the King David Lounge.
Terminal Information - Arriving
Flights from Tel Aviv to Vancouver arrive at Vancouver International Airport YVR. The airport is located on Sea Island in Richmond, British Columbia, about 12 km from downtown Vancouver.
You can take the Canada Line Rail, which connects YVR to downtown Vancouver in under 30 minutes and downtown Richmond in 18 minutes. The trains are accessible from both the International and Domestic Terminals. A single fare costs $9 CAD (₪25). If you take a taxi, the rates are fixed depending on the zone. The ride to Downtown Vancouver costs $31 CAD (less than ₪83). You can find the taxis on the second floor of Domestic and International Arrivals halls.
Things you should know
Israeli citizens, just like most non-Canadians, need an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). If you are a U.S. citizen or a traveler with a valid Canadian visa, you are exempted. It costs only $7 CAD (less than ₪20), and it’s valid for five years, so it’s not too big of a hassle to take care of it. You need to apply online, and if there are no errors, your application will be approved within minutes. It is recommended to book your flights from Tel Aviv to Vancouver after you obtained the eTA. For the eTA, you will need your passport, a credit card, and an e-mail address.
To enter Canada, your passport must be valid for the whole duration of your stay in the country. Usually, the borders control officers will grant you a six-month stay in Canada, but they have the authority to limit your visit to a shorter time.
