LOT Flights

LOT Polish Airlines is the national carrier of Poland, and 51% of its shares are still owned by the Polish government. LOT is one of the oldest airlines in the world, founded on January 1st, 1929. On March 1929 it operated its first domestic flight and a year later its first international flight. During World War II it stopped its operation as most the aircraft has been destroyed. LOT resumed operation in 1945 with Soviet planes, however, in the late 80’s is started replacing it fleet to western aircraft. Today LOT has 40 airplanes which fly to over 80 destinations around the globe. It is a member of the Star Alliance and part of the Miles&More frequent flyer program.

LOT flies once a day between Warsaw and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport. Starting June 2017 LOT is scheduled to have a second daily flight between these destinations and add the following: two weekly flights to Lublin, two weekly flights to Wroclaw, a weekly flight to Gdansk and a weekly flight to Poznan. Lot also offers convenient and affordable connections to Beijing, New York, Tokyo, and Toronto.

How to Check-in

The most convenient way to check-in is online. LOT’s online check-in period starts 24 hours and ends two hours before departure. After completing this process, you will be able to print your boarding card. If your final destination is within the Schengen zone, you can have the boarding pass for the connecting flight be sent to your phone as a text message with a link. This option is unavailable for intercontinental and non-Schengen flights. You can use the kiosks at Terminal 3 at Ben Gurion Airport for a self-check-in including checking your baggage. Check-in counters open three hours before departure until 60 minutes before taking off.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Each passenger allowed for at least one carry-on item. Economy passengers can board with one piece up to 8 kg and Premium Economy on intercontinental flights can carry on with two items up to 12 kg with the combined weight. Business travelers can bring two items up to 9 kg each. The size must not exceed 55x40x23 cm. Also, each passenger can board with a personal item such as a handbag or a purse, as long as it doesn’t exceed 40x35x12 cm. Economy passengers have an allowance of 23 kg, and Economy premium has two items of up to 23 kg each. If you fly Business Class, you can bring two items of up to 32 kg each, but if you are flying to Canada, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea or the USA a third item is included. In all cases, your luggage must not exceed 158 cm (height+length+width). If you need excess baggage, each additional 23 kg item costs $71-€111 depending on your destination. The additional piece over 23 kg and up to 32 kg cost $143-$221; the same price applies for oversized luggage over 158 cm. Oversized and overweight baggage will be charged $214-$332. Economy Saver tickets have only hand baggage included in their fare.


If you purchase Economy Saver ticket, your seat will be assigned to you when you complete your check-in. You can buy your preferred seat starting at $10.80. If you have Economy Standard or Economy Flex ticket, you will be able to choose your seat for free.

Booking Fees

There is no booking fee or credit card fee.

Service on Board

On flights shorter than six hours, a small snack is offered. For an extra charge, you can order the LOT Gourmet menu. During long-haul flights, you will get a full meal or buy a meal from the Premium Economy. On International flights, you can enjoy the entertainment system with movies and music on board. During the flight, you will get a chance to buy duty-free items.
