Why Fly With British Airways

How to Check-in:

British Airways offers an online check-in service, available from 24 hours before the flight is scheduled to depart, up until one hour before. You can either print your boarding pass out at home to save time at the airport or print it at a kiosk once you arrive. If you have the app on your smartphone, iPad or Apple Watch, you can download your boarding pass and show it from your device. You don’t need to worry about finding a print shop before your flight back. You can check in on the way to the airport and pick up your boarding card from a kiosk or at the check-in desk free of charge. At the airport, you can check-in at a self-serve kiosk using your booking reference and your passport. The check-in desks in Ben Gurion Airport are in Terminal 3. The counters are closing 45 minutes before the flight and in some cases 60 minutes prior to the departure, so you should watch your time.

Baggage Allowances and Fees:

The carry-on allowance of British Airways is very generous. Every passenger is allowed to bring one piece of luggage, plus a handbag or laptop case, into the cabin. You can board the cabin with a size trolley of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm. You can check the size in the bag gauge at the airport. The laptop bag or handbag can be no larger than 40cm x 30cm x 15cm and must be able to fit underneath the seat in front. Both pieces can weigh up to 23 kg. Flights from Tel Aviv include one piece of free checked in luggage, up to 23 kg in Economy and Premium Economy. Business and First Class include 2-3 pieces of up to 32 kg. The dimensions may be no larger than 90cm x 75cm x 43cm. If you want to buy extra allowance, you may do so for an extra fee ranging between $90-180 when you do it online. If you didn’t purchase the extra luggage online, it would be more expensive at the baggage drop desks. Don't miss our guide to British Airways cabin baggage rules.

Seating

Every passenger can choose a seat for free during check-in at the airport or online. However, if you want a better selection option, you can reserve your seat in advance while booking or via the “Manage My Booking” section of the British Airways website. Once you choose your seat, you will be told whether or not you have to pay for it. Whether seat selection is free or costs extra and how much depends on the type of your ticket and your class of travel. Economy seats have 79-86 cm of legroom. Exit seats rows and extra legroom can be pre-booked for an additional fee that could be as high as $75.

Booking Fees

When you book your flight from Tel Aviv, there will be a $30 service fee. However, it will be shown as part of your ticket price. If you search your flight via Skyscanner and then book it online, no extra fee will be added. However, if you choose to book it on the phone or via British Airways Airport office, there will be a $50-$150 fee. You can pay with your PayPal account for a fee of £5. If you pay with a credit card, there is a fee of 1% of the total reservation price starting 31.1.2017.

Service on Board

On British Airways flights you can choose your favorite meal from a wide range of options. From low calorie to diabetic meals, from gluten-free to vegan and from Muslim proof to Kosher - you will not leave the plane hungry. You can enjoy the High Life entertainment system with an endless number of movies and TV programmes, so you would not be bored at any of the 5 hours and 25 minutes of your flight to London.
