Blue Air is the largest airline in Romania, even though it’s not the flag carrier. Founded in 2014, Blue Air operates both domestic and international flights, but its primary focus is international destinations. It is 100% private, and its frequent flyer program called My Blue.

Blue Air’s fleet contains 25 Boeing 737s of different series. The airline flies to 58 destinations and starting January 2017 Tel Aviv is on its map. You can catch a flight from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport to Bucharest three times per week by Boeing 737-800 which serves up to 189 passengers in its cabin.

How to Check-in

Blue Air has a very generous check-in policy. You can check-in as early as 30 days before your flight until 12 hours prior to departure. Please note that you must print your boarding pass in advance and arrive with it at the airport. Some airports do not allow online check-in. In these cases, you can check-in at the airport free of charge. If you travel with carry-on baggage only, you may go directly to the gate no later than 60 minutes before your flight. Passengers with checked baggage should go to the drop-off counters no later than 90 minutes before departure.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Each passenger may board the cabin with one carry-on item up to 10 kg, with the maximum dimensions 55x40x20 cm. If you have a backpack or a laptop, you must store them in the carry-on luggage. In addition, you can board with a bag of products purchased at the Duty-Free shops at the airport, free of charge. You can purchase baggage allowance for very reasonable prices. Each piece may not exceed 100x80x30 cm up to 32 kg. From Tel Aviv to Bucharest the cost is €22 per item per flight segment. Each passenger can send up to four items to the hold. If you buy baggage allowance at the airport, the fee is €50.


The legroom is slightly above average for a low-cost airline, about 81 cm. You can choose your seat during the reservation. Some seats are offered for free, and the rest for a fee of €4-€10.

Blue Air offers several meals options, which you can book in advance during the reservation process. You will be offered breakfast, lunch or dinner for €9.5. You can also purchase meals on board, as well as snacks and drinks.
