How to Check-in:

Check-in period opens 30 hours before departure until one hour before. However, it is recommended to check the time for your particular flight since times may vary if your flight is being serviced by a partner airline. Due to possible waiting times, KLM recommends that you arrive at the airport 2 hours prior to departure, 3 hours for flights from Tel Aviv. For flights to the United States, you can check yourself starting 24 hours before your flight. You can start the process at home or in your office via KLM website, which allows you to print your boarding pass and avoid the lines and the check-in desk. KLM allows you to do the check-in via your smartphone and present a mobile boarding pass. However, this option is not yet available on departures from Israel. You can always check-in and print your boarding pass at the airport’s kiosk or the counters, In Ben Gurion Airport they are located in Terminal 3.

Baggage Allowances and Fees:

All passengers may bring a carry-on item plus one accessory with a combined weight of no more than 12 kg. If your final destination is in Europe, you will have to purchase your hold baggage allowance. 23 kg cost $25 when you do it online, $35 at the airport. 32 kg cost $105. If your final destination is in the Americas, you may send one free 23 kg item to the hold. Flying Business? You can bring two carry-on items and one accessory with a combined weight of 18 kg, however, due to regulations in the US you are allowed to take with you only one item on flights departing from there. You can check two pieces of luggage of up to 32 kg. In all cases, the bag size may not exceed 158 cm, the sum of length, width and depth. It is highly recommended that you check and calculate your allowance on KLM website since it may vary if you have bonus miles or any Elite status.


All passengers can choose their seat for free during the check-in period. However, if you need extra reassurance, you can also select a regular seat prior to check-in on long haul flights operated by KLM or Air France and on European routes operated by KLM for a fee, but some travellers are exempted. Economy Comfort seats, seats with extra legroom and preferred seats on these flights can be reserved at a fee. Economy standard seats have 76-81 cm of legroom, 9 cm recline and they are designed ergonomically. In Economy Comfort, the legroom is up to 89 cm, up to 18 cm of recline and the seats are in the front of Economy class in a separate zone. Seats in emergency exit rows will give you 97-140 cm of legroom, depending on your destination. Business passengers to Europe will enjoy up to 89 cm legroom and will always have either window or aisle seats. On flights to other continents, you will have an amazing 207 cm legroom with up to 180 degrees recline.

Booking Fees

In general, there are no booking fees when you book online. When you book via telephone or at the ticket office, there will be a service fee which varies depending on your destination. If there is any unavoidable fee, it will be mentioned in several steps during the booking process. You can find a breakdown of the fare, taxes, surcharges and extra fees and the total ticket price while you book and in your booking confirmation e-mail. The menu changes regularly and you can find an indication of what to expect on the airline’s website. For most intercontinental KLM flights you can also treat yourself to delightful à la carte meals. You can request a special meal for medical, religious or diet reasons on all KLM intercontinental flights and of course, Kosher meals are also available. Just make sure to order until 24 hours, Kosher meals until 48 hours before departure. On almost all intercontinental KLM flights you get more than 900 hours of interactive entertainment available in various languages including more than 80 films, TV programs, hundreds of CDs, language courses, audio books and games.
