Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) is the flag carrier of Ukraine and the largest airline in the country. It was established in October 1992, with its inaugural flight taking off on November 25th, 1992, from Kiev to London. Today Ukraine International’s 39 aircrafts fly between eight domestic and over 40 international destinations.

Ukraine International flies from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport to six destinations in Ukraine: 20 weekly flights to Kyiv, six to Lviv, five to Odessa, four to Dnipropetrovsk, twice a week to Kharkiv, and one a week to Vinnytsia. You can also fly with UIA to other destinations in Europe, many times for lower prices than direct flights. You are welcome to join the frequent flyer program which is called Panorama Club.

How to Check In

The easiest way is to check in online, by web or mobile check-in. Ukraine International opens check-in from 48 hours until one hour prior to your flight. During this timeframe you are able to select your preferred seat free of charge. You can either print your boarding pass and show it at the airport, or save it as a mobile boarding pass. This option is available on all flights from Tel Aviv. You can also register for automatic check-in, in which case Ukraine International will check you in 12 hours prior to departure. Note that if you have a connection flight and your final destination is in the US or Germany, you cannot use this service. Check UIA website for the current list of destinations. You can always check in the old fashioned way at the airport, starting two hours before departure (three hours when departing from Tel Aviv) until 40 minutes before (60 minutes from Tel Aviv). Boarding begins 40 minutes prior to scheduled departure, and the gate closes 10 minutes before take off.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

The general hand luggage allowance on Ukraine International flights is 7 kg per passenger, in a bag no larger than 55x40x20 cm. Panorama Club members with Classic or Premium status are permitted up to 12 kg. You can bring an additional item such as a laptop or a small purse. Economy fares from Tel Aviv to Ukraine include 23 kg of checked baggage in a bag measuring up to 158 cm (height+length+width). Panorama Premium passengers have a 25 kg allowance. The allowance for Business Class passengers is 32 kg. If you need to check an extra bag, it costs $30 per flight when you do it online at least 24 hours in advance. Doing so at the airport will cost at least $55.

Seating

If your flight is operated by Boeing 737-800, Boeing 737-900 or Embraer, the flight will be a bit tight with a 74 cm seat pitch (the distance between your seat and the seat in front of you). On other planes, it’s much better - 79 cm on Boeing 737-300s and 81 cm on all other aircrafts.

Booking Fees

A booking fee of $10 is already calculated into your fare, but if you cancel your flight and are eligible for a refund, this amount is nonrefundable. Booking via ticket offices incurs an $18 fee.

Service on Board

You can pre-order a meals online to be served to you on board, starting at less than $6. Kosher meals are available for $12.71. Ukraine International also sells a selection of Duty-Free items through the Sky Shop.
