Pegasus started its journey at the beginning of 1990, with only two airplanes. 27 years later, the second biggest airline in Turkey flies to more than 100 destinations with its 78 planes including its subsidiaries. Along the years Pegasus became a leading low-cost airline which helped to lower prices from Tel Aviv to several destinations in Europe with a connection flight in Istanbul.

There is only an Economy Class on Pegasus’ flights, and if you want to purchase anything else but the flight you will need to pay for it, or purchase a higher fare. There are two daily flights from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport to Sabiha Gokcen Airport in the Asian part of Istanbul, and from there you can connect to European destinations such as Berlin and London for low prices. Pegasus also operates seasonal charter flights from Ben Gurion Airport to Antalya and seasonal flights from Ovda Airport in the south of Israel to Istanbul.

How to Check-in

Check-in period on Pegasus Airlines international flights starts 72 hours before your flights and ends two hours before. If you are traveling with baggage, you should check it in before the counters close. If you are traveling with hand baggage only, you may proceed directly to the security check with your boarding card. On flights from Tel Aviv, the counters close 60 minutes prior to departure. On flights from most European destinations, you have until 45 minutes before. The gate opens 40 minutes before taking off, but if you are not there no later than 10 minutes before departure - you will not be allowed to board the plane. When you depart from Ben Gurion Airport, you will need a printed boarding card. On flights from most European destination, you can download a mobile boarding card onto your device.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

All passengers are allowed to board the plane with one hand baggage of 20x40x55 cm, with a maximum weight of 8 kg. If you purchased Essentials or Advantage ticket, one piece of checked-in luggage up to 20 kg is included. Extras ticket holders have a larger allowance of up to 25 kg. You can buy extra baggage allowance when you purchase your ticket, or you can add it later until four hours before your departure. After this time frame, you will have to make the payment at the airport. Purchasing extra baggage allowance online would save you up to 60% compared to airport’s fees. Travelers with Basic tickets have no baggage allowance. If you need to send your luggage into the hold, you can buy it. The prices from Tel Aviv are €6 for the first 20 kg on your first leg to Istanbul. If you have a connecting flight, there is another €6 charge. Each kg after the first 20 costs €3 per flight. For example, if you fly from Tel Aviv to Berlin with 20 kg it will cost you €12. If you have 22 kg, it will cost €24. If you purchase the extra allowance at the airport, it will be charged in USD, $11 for the first 20 kg plus $9 if you have a connecting flight. For each kg afterward, you will pay $9 for the first leg, and $8 for connecting flights.


Your seat will be assigned to you when you check yourself in. However, you can choose your favorite seat for a fee. Seats with extra legroom start from $13. The charge for a seat in the front rows starts from $12. You can make sure that you have a window or an aisle seat for $7 or if you are a family or friends that want to sit together, you can secure it with a middle seat for $5. Please note that there is a charge for every flight, so if you fly from Tel Aviv to London you need to purchase two seats. If you hold Advantage or Extras ticket, you can choose your seat for free.

Booking Fees

Pegasus charges $32 airport check-in fee. In addition, there is a service charge of $8. When you search for your ticket with Skyscanner, these fees are already included in your search results. Skyscanner doesn’t add any additional fees and charges. If you choose to get your reservation details by SMS, it will incur a $2.29 fee. You can add a Flexi option to your ticket which allows you to make unlimited changes for $15 per direction.

Service on Board

As a low-cost airline, any extra service needs to be purchased. You can pre-book a meal and be first to get it during your flight. Advantage tickets include a sandwich and Extras tickets include a meal. There is no entertainment system on Pegasus Airlines flights, but you can watch the screens and see the route of your flight.
