airBaltic is a low-cost airline based in Riga and owned by the Latvian state. It is also the flag carrier of Latvia. airBaltic was established in 1995 as a joint venture with SAS, which owned almost 50% of the airline’s shares. The airline also used the same frequent flyer program as SAS. However, in 2009 SAS sold its entire stake in airBaltic and today the company operates its own frequent flyer program called PINS.

The airBaltic fleet contains 25 airplanes which fly to 59 destinations in Europe and the Middle East, some of which are seasonal only. There are three weekly flights from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport to Riga, serviced by Boeing 737-300 and 737-500.

Why Fly With airBaltic

How to Check in

The check-in period on airBaltic flights starts as early as five days prior to departure. When departing from Tel Aviv, you can check yourself in online no later than 150 minutes before your flight. On your return flight from Riga, you may do so until 40 minutes, for Economy, and 30 minutes for Business, before departing. If you have a connecting flight and the second part of your travel is operated by another airline, you can check in beginning 24 hours prior to departure. The same shorter time frame is also valid for codeshare flights. On your return flight from Riga, you can use mobile check-in and have your boarding pass sent as a QR code to your smartphone. This option is not yet available from Ben Gurion Airport, so you must print the PDF of your boarding pass. Failing to do so and checking in at the airport will incur a €30 charge.
